BespokePilates Studio Equipment

Pilates equipment is uniquely designed to be able to either assist or challenge you during your workout.

  • The Reformer: The Pilates reformer is one of the original types of equipment invented by Joseph Pilates when he was working at a hospital during the First World War. He originally made the reformer from a bed frame and springs to help patients strengthen their muscles. The reformer is also arguably the piece of equipment which plays the biggest role in distinguishing Pilates. It is a versatile and dynamic Pilates machine that facilitates precise movements, muscle engagement, and body alignment. It consists of a sliding carriage, equipped with adjustable springs, pulleys, straps, and a footbar. These components work together to create a unique resistance system that enables a wide range of exercises and variations. By adjusting the spring tension, the resistance provided by the reformer is altered, so exercises are made either easier or more difficult.

  • The Cadillac: Also known as the Trapeze Table, & named after the luxurious car, it is a very versatile piece of equipment that enriches movement learning. It gives infinite variety to the exercises & so elevates your Pilates journey to the next level. A staple of every well-equipped Pilates facility, the Cadillac offers an extensive range of applications for everyone from post-rehab clients to athletes. The trapeze table was the very first piece of Pilates apparatus designed by Joseph Pilates. It is the also biggest and most imposing out of all the Pilates equipment. The original version was very basic, however, made by adapting the hospital beds of his internment camp during WW1

  • The Chair: The most functional piece of equipment that Joseph Pilates invented. It can be adjusted to train most muscle groups & is very effective for building arm & leg strength & conditioning, enhance stability and iimprove body control. Ideal for rehab clients or those who need to stay in a seated or upright position, helping to rebalance muscles while providing a full-body workout.  The Pilates chair also facilitates high-performance exercises for athletes and fitness enthusiasts.

  • The Ladder Barrel: Originally a converted beer keg, the rounded surface encourages the spine to move into extension & flexion in a supported way & through a greater range of motion than on the mat or on the other equipment making ab & oblique exercises some of the most challenging for core conditioning.  It is also great for increasing flexibility & mobility.
